Market-specific production planning

Activewear production planning for the United States

A localized project brief for activewear orders planned for the United States, covering specifications, samples, inspections, export terms and import checks.

Send a tech pack with garment type, fibre blend, size range, construction, quantity per style, label brief and destination. Confirm product and process support in a written quotation before sampling.

Availability depends on category and construction. Ask Fenalt to confirm the requested product, fabric and process in writing before samples or production.

01

Build the product brief

Keep the performance target measurable and tie each check to the approved tech pack and sample.

  • Record fibre composition, knit or woven construction, size range and intended use.

  • Set stretch, recovery, opacity and any test methods with the buyer before sampling.

  • Agree fabric weight and measurement tolerances against the selected material; there is no universal GSM range.

02

Import checks for the United States

Classification and import conditions depend on the actual garment, fibre, construction, origin and trade terms. Check the current tariff with the official lookup and the buyer’s customs broker before estimating landed cost.

Local budgeting currency

USD

Use US Dollar (USD) for local planning. Confirm invoice currency, bank charges, deposits and payment milestones in Fenalt’s written quotation; payment terms are order-specific.

U.S. apparel-label and HTS review

Before approving U.S. label artwork, give the importer verified fiber content by garment part, country-of-origin and responsible-business identity details for review against FTC apparel guidance. Required textile disclosures must appear in English; Spanish may be added, but not substituted for English. Check care instructions separately for the garment and materials. Ask the broker to advise on each style HTSUS classification from construction, fiber mix and origin before estimating duty; have the importer confirm the classification used in its import declaration.

Shipping and delivery terms

Before planning freight, ask Fenalt to confirm the available Incoterm, named place or port, responsibility for import clearance, duties and taxes, and any available transit estimate in the written quotation. Terms are order-specific.

ICC Incoterms® 2020 rules

Example: a buyer in the United States budgeting a knitted performance legging can give a broker its knit construction, fibre mix and garment details for classification before estimating duty.

Confirm fibre-content, care, origin, importer and language labelling requirements for the finished product with the local authority and importer. Requirements can vary by product and market.
