Market-specific production planning

Activewear production planning for South Korea

A localized project brief for activewear orders planned for South Korea, covering specifications, samples, inspections, export terms and import checks.

Send a tech pack with garment type, fibre blend, size range, construction, quantity per style, label brief and destination. Confirm product and process support in a written quotation before sampling.

Availability depends on category and construction. Ask Fenalt to confirm the requested product, fabric and process in writing before samples or production.

01

Build the product brief

Keep the performance target measurable and tie each check to the approved tech pack and sample.

  • Record fibre composition, knit or woven construction, size range and intended use.

  • Set stretch, recovery, opacity and any test methods with the buyer before sampling.

  • Agree fabric weight and measurement tolerances against the selected material; there is no universal GSM range.

02

Import checks for South Korea

Classification and import conditions depend on the actual garment, fibre, construction, origin and trade terms. Check the current tariff with the official lookup and the buyer’s customs broker before estimating landed cost.

Local budgeting currency

KRW

Use South Korean Won (KRW) for local planning. Confirm invoice currency, bank charges, deposits and payment milestones in Fenalt’s written quotation; payment terms are order-specific.

Korean product-category and tariff check

For South Korea, ask the importer to confirm whether the exact garment falls within the household textile product standard for users aged 14 and over, or instead falls under a children’s, infant or other category. For products in scope, ask the importer to check the applicable KATS annex for the Korean-language markings and label placement for that exact garment; use a tag or package only if the item-specific annex permits it. SafetyKorea describes household textile products as safety-standards-compliance items without a KC mark, so do not apply a blanket KC claim. Give the broker garment construction, fibre mix and origin for classification advice, then have the importer confirm the code and shipment-specific treatment it will declare.

Shipping and delivery terms

Before planning freight, ask Fenalt to confirm the available Incoterm, named place or port, responsibility for import clearance, duties and taxes, and any available transit estimate in the written quotation. Terms are order-specific.

ICC Incoterms® 2020 rules

Example: a buyer in South Korea budgeting a knitted performance legging can give a broker its knit construction, fibre mix and garment details for classification before estimating duty.

Confirm fibre-content, care, origin, importer and language labelling requirements for the finished product with the local authority and importer. Requirements can vary by product and market.
