Set the inside, weight, and finish
Hoodies may use fleece constructions such as three-end fleece, French terry, or brushed-back fabric. Specify the construction, fiber composition, target weight, width, face and loop or pile character, stretch, color, and finish. Availability, minimums, and performance depend on the supplier and the selected material.
If requesting organic or recycled fibers, identify the desired claim and the evidence needed. Ask for supplier and transaction documentation that covers the relevant material and order; a broad supplier statement or fiber label alone may not substantiate a finished-product claim.
Check hand feel, shrinkage, shade, pilling, stretch and recovery, and surface appearance on the actual material. Include test method and acceptance criteria in the specification where those results matter to the product.

1. Confirm the brief and supplier fit
Review target quantities, construction, material, process, artwork, packaging, and the supplier experience and capacity required.
2. Develop and sample
Agree which pattern, material, color, wash, decoration, and size samples are needed and who approves each version.
3. Sign off the production standard
Freeze the approved sample, POMs, material, seam and trim details, branding, pack, and any test or inspection criteria.
4. Confirm bulk and delivery scope
Check order quantities, fabric and trim availability, production window, quality activities, delivery term, and current route estimate.
Supplier suitability and trade-offs
Qualify the hoodie route, not just the country
Vietnam may be considered when a buyer can identify a supplier route that fits its knit or fleece construction, sewing details, materials, and requested finishing. Supplier networks and factory profiles differ by location, equipment, process, and scale. A country-level label does not establish capability or open capacity for a particular program.
Ask which facility will make the garment, where fabric and trims will come from, whether custom dyeing or wash work is handled in-house or by a partner, and who checks each transfer between operations. Clarify sourcing alternatives if the preferred fleece weight, color, drawcord hardware, or rib trim is unavailable.
Hoodies can be bulky relative to lighter knit tops, so compare the quoted freight and packaging assumptions with the actual folded dimensions and order volume. Confirm named shipment terms, origin records, commodity classification, and import treatment with a broker. Route estimates can change and should be confirmed for the current shipment.
A direct factory arrangement and a managed coordination route also allocate work differently. Compare responsibility for technical translation, sample consolidation, material approvals, production communication, inspection, export documents, and shipment follow-up.
