Concept-to-garment product development

ODM Clothing Manufacturing & Product Development

Bring a moodboard, reference garment, or design direction. Fenalt develops the technical pack, patterns, materials, samples, private-label details, and production route.

Our managed ODM service connects creative direction to commercial-grade apparel without requiring an expensive internal technical design and pattern-making department.

Direct answer

Creative direction translated into a production system

Fenalt's ODM service is a complete design-to-delivery manufacturing solution. You can begin with reference images, vintage samples, physical swatches, or a creative brief describing the fit, silhouette, and aesthetic.

The product development team translates those inputs into digital tech packs, graded sizes, patterns, sourced textiles, and physical prototypes. After approval, Fenalt coordinates bulk cut-and-sew production, AQL 2.5 inspection, private-label branding, and international shipping to your facility.

Choose the right path

ODM bridges the creative and engineering gap

ODM includes development work that OEM assumes the buyer has already completed.

Six development stages

From creative intake to export dispatch

Each stage turns an idea into a more specific, testable production decision.

  1. 01

    Creative intake and concept scoping

Share concept sketches, visual references, target demographic, retail price points, and functional requirements. Fenalt reviews fabric feasibility, construction complexity, and production economics.

  2. 02

Technical tech pack creation and pattern digitization

Fenalt creates dimensioned front, back, and detail CAD drawings; graded POM charts across the requested size curve; and a BOM covering fabrics, rib trims, interfacings, threads, closures, and labels.

  3. 03

Textile sourcing, milling, and lab dips

In-stock circular knits and woven rolls support faster development. Bespoke programs can coordinate yarn spinning, combed jersey, French terry or fleece knitting, and Pantone reactive dyeing with A, B, and C lab-dip options.

  4. 04

    Prototype sampling and fit calibration

Physical samples take 10–15 days for production plus 3–5 days for international courier transit. Fit review covers silhouette, drape, neckline comfort, and armhole mobility before pattern revisions are finalized.

  5. 05

    Bulk cut-and-sew manufacturing

After written approval of PP samples and lab dips, vetted facilities use computer-aided marker laying, automated spreading, precision cutting, and overlock, flatlock, and twin-needle stitching. Bulk is 15–20 days from PP sign-off to export dispatch.

  6. 06

Quality control, private labeling, and logistics

In-line checks and final random-carton sampling follow ANSI/ASQ Z1.4 Level II with AQL 2.5. Fenalt applies labels, hangtags, polybags, barcodes, and coordinates DAP courier or FOB bulk sea freight.

Supported categories

Development matched to the garment brief

Category 1

Streetwear and casualwear

220–300 GSM combed-cotton oversized tees with dropped shoulders and custom collar ribbing; 380–500 GSM French terry or brushed fleece hoodies and crewnecks; and heavyweight fleece sweatpants or cargo joggers with reinforced waistbands and custom drawcords.

Category 2

Smart-casual and tailored knits

Honeycomb piqué and mercerized cotton polos with anti-curl collars and reinforced box-stitch plackets; Oxford button-downs, resort-collar linen shirts, utility twill overshirts, and cotton-twill chinos or casual trousers with custom pocketing and horn or melamine buttons.

Category 3

Activewear and athleisure

Seamless leggings, performance sports bras, and technical training tops engineered with moisture-wicking, anti-odor, and four-way-stretch nylon-elastane knits.

Private-label execution

Every developed garment should arrive brand-ready

The ODM path extends beyond the silhouette to the components customers see, touch, and scan.

Woven neck labels

High-definition damask labels with ultrasonic soft-edge cutting to reduce skin irritation.

Tagless heat transfers

Stretchable silicone or polyurethane transfers for logos, sizing, and care instructions.

Custom hardware

Laser-etched melamine buttons, branded metal cord ends, engraved eyelets, and customized YKK or SBS metal zippers.

Retail packaging

Frosted zip-lock polybags, FSC-certified cardboard hangtags with wax cords, and warehouse-ready barcode stickers.

MOQ

50 pieces per style, subject to material and construction feasibility.

Sampling

10–15 days for production plus 3–5 days for courier transit.

Delivery

DAP for courier consignments or FOB for bulk maritime container freight.

Quality assurance

Concept-led development still needs hard checkpoints

ODM quality is controlled by making the developing specification measurable before bulk production.

01

Pre-production material audit

Test GSM, wash and perspiration colorfastness, and torque or spirality before cutting.

02

In-line sewing monitoring

Inspect SPI, seam elasticity, and thread tension during assembly.

03

POM audits

Measure all sizes against approved spec sheets using standard commercial tolerances, with ±1.5 cm as the typical approved benchmark where specified.

04

Hardware and trim security

Pull-test snaps, buttons, and drawcords for durability and consumer safety.

05

Final AQL inspection

Statistically sample packaged cartons before commercial shipping documents are released.

Written approvals, POM evidence, material tests, and final carton sampling keep the creative direction connected to the shipped garment.

Questions and answers

ODM clothing manufacturing FAQs

What is the main difference between ODM and OEM clothing manufacturing?

OEM starts with completed technical packs, measurement charts, and fabric specifications supplied by the buyer. ODM starts with creative concepts or references; Fenalt develops the patterns, spec sheets, fabric sourcing, and finished garments as well as managing production.

What files or information do I need to start an ODM project with Fenalt?

Professional CAD drawings are not required. Reference photographs, sketches, moodboards, links to garments with a desired fit, fabric preferences, and brand aesthetic notes are enough to begin the technical translation.

What is Fenalt's minimum order quantity for ODM production?

Standard minimum order quantities start at 50 pieces per style, subject to fabric and construction feasibility. This supports emerging brands, capsule drops, and retail testing.

How long does the complete ODM process take from concept to delivery?

The complete pipeline typically takes 6–9 weeks: 1–2 weeks for concept finalization and pattern drafting, 10–15 days for sample production plus 3–5 days courier transit, and 15–20 days for bulk manufacturing after PP sign-off. Transit beyond export dispatch depends on the shipping route.

Who owns the intellectual property and patterns developed during an ODM project?

Custom patterns, tech packs, and garment designs developed specifically for your brand remain your exclusive intellectual property. Fenalt does not sell, license, or share them with third parties.

Can Fenalt manufacture custom fabric colors under an ODM program?

Yes. Fenalt coordinates Pantone-matched reactive dyeing and submits three-shade lab-dip swatches for physical review and sign-off before bulk fabric milling.

What quality control standards are used for ODM apparel orders?

Production uses in-line quality checks and pre-shipment inspection under ANSI/ASQ Z1.4 Level II with an AQL 2.5 acceptance threshold, with standard commercial tolerances across all POM.
