Apparel Manufacturing for Swedish Brands
Apparel manufacturing involves more than choosing a supplier. Product requirements need to become clear specifications, open questions need owners, and samples need to be compared with the intended product. Fenalt coordinates managed apparel manufacturing and sourcing from technical review through sampling and production coordination to delivery.
Factories, suppliers and material sources are selected according to the project. Fenalt is an accountable manufacturing solutions manager, not a factory directory or open marketplace. Suitability, scope and commercial terms need confirmation for each project.
Assemble the production brief
Separate agreed requirements from open questions. Gather details about the product and intended use, construction, measurements, size range, materials and fibre composition, colours, trims, finishing, branding, packaging, and quantities by style and colour. Add the target market, delivery destination, desired timing, and known testing or documentation needs.
A tech pack should describe requirements clearly enough to support questions and later approvals. Flag provisional material values, measurements, colours, print placement and label copy. Reference images help explain the design but do not replace a production specification. Fenalt reviews the technical information and coordinates open feasibility questions with project partners.
Make samples and approvals clear decisions
Record which sample is being reviewed, who approves it and which criteria apply. Give specific feedback on fit, measurements, material feel, colour, construction, branding and packaging. Put unresolved changes into an updated specification so decisions can be traced.
The approved sample and specification version become the shared reference for production coordination. Changes after approval can affect sourcing, workflow, cost and timing; confirm their effects for the project. A sample does not guarantee every later garment or determine legal compliance.
Coordinate production checks and quality expectations
Before production starts, clarify the specification, checks and escalation path. Fenalt coordinates production and provides on-site quality control during production. Checks and records should follow the confirmed quality plan. Fenalt's approved pre-shipment inspection reference is AQL 2.5 under ANSI/ASQ Z1.4 Level II; confirm the plan and acceptance criteria for the project.
Deviations are reviewed against the agreed quality standard and appropriate corrective action is coordinated with the production partner. This does not promise defect-free goods or automatic replacement. Needle or metal detection can be incorporated when required by the product, buyer specification or facility.
Check EU textile rules and Swedish imports
For textile products covered by the rules, Regulation (EU) No 1007/2011 sets requirements for fibre names and fibre-composition information. European Commission guidance describes labelling for products sold in the EU. Check scope, exceptions, sales channel and language for the actual product before approving label artwork. This page does not determine whether a particular label meets every requirement.
Chemical requirements depend on the substance, product and use. ECHA publishes restrictions under REACH, but a general compliance statement does not show that a particular material or finish meets every requirement. Identify the buyer's restricted-substance list, evidence needs and testing methods before material selection.
Imports from outside the EU require customs planning. Swedish Customs says goods must be declared and that the commodity code affects duty and other measures. Check current Tulltaxan/TARIC information for the actual product and origin. Do not use a general apparel duty rate or assume preferential treatment without verifying origin and evidence.
EORI requirements depend on the parties' roles. Confirm with a Swedish customs representative who is importer, declarant, consignee or representative and which party needs an EORI number. The Swedish Tax Agency says a business registered for Swedish VAT that imports for its Swedish business normally reports import VAT in its VAT return. Confirm the importer, registration and responsibilities with a customs representative or tax adviser.
Prepare the next decisions
Record the approved specification and sample version, quantity by style, material and label requirements, quality plan, importer, customs roles, origin evidence and delivery terms. Fenalt's standard planning reference is 50 pieces per style. Sample production is normally planned at 10–15 days plus a separate 3–5 day estimate for sample shipping. Bulk production is normally planned at 15–20 days from pre-production sample sign-off to export dispatch. These are planning references, not guaranteed delivery dates; confirm them for the order.
Fenalt's approved commercial starting point is DAP for small-batch courier shipments and FOB Chattogram for bulk sea freight. Route, origin, destination, shipment size and the agreed Incoterm affect the terms. Check the quotation for the named place or port, transport responsibility, import clearance, duties and taxes. DAP does not automatically mean import duties or VAT are included.
