Private Label Clothing for Brands in Portugal

Turn a brand identity into a specification a production team can review. Fenalt coordinates private-label projects with partners selected for each order, from technical review through agreed production and dispatch.

Fenalt manages the manufacturing and sourcing process; it is not a factory directory and does not claim to own production facilities. Origin, partner, capacity and terms are confirmed for each project.

Product specification

Prepare a brief that supports a concrete review

Describe the garment category and intended use, fit and size range, construction, material and known fibre content, colours, trims, branding placement, label artwork and packaging. Include a current tech pack or reference files, quantities by style, colour and size, target destination, desired timing, and the version of the specification that controls the order.

Separate approved requirements from ideas that still need a sample or feasibility check, and name who can approve changes. Reference images do not settle measurements, composition, construction or placement: record them in writing and confirm against an approved sample.

  • Product and fit

Intended use, finished measurements, size range, construction and fit criteria.

  • Materials and colour

Known fibre content, fabric, colour, trims and details still subject to confirmation.

  • Brand and packaging

File versions, placement, labels, tags, prints, embroidery and packaging.

  • Quantities

Breakdown by style, colour and size; do not assume separate styles count together toward a minimum.

  • Approvals

Owners for sample, artwork, changes and the final specification version.

  • Destination and timing

Target destination, sample stage and dates to confirm within the project scope.

Samples and approvals

Keep product decisions traceable

For each sample stage, agree who reviews it and which criteria they use. Comment on fit, measurements, colour, material hand-feel, construction, branding placement and packaging. Record accepted changes in a dated specification revision and keep it with the approved sample as the production reference. An image or informal message alone may leave scope unclear.

Fenalt’s standard minimum order reference is 50 pieces per style. Confirm the style definition and breakdown in the quotation; different styles, colours or fabric requirements do not automatically combine. Sampling is estimated at 10–15 days for sample production plus a separate 3–5 days for shipping. Bulk production is estimated at 15–20 days from pre-production sample sign-off to export dispatch. These are planning references, not arrival times; materials, approvals, revisions, partners and transport can affect dates.

Written plan

Set quality criteria before bulk production

Record the approved sample, measurement points and tolerances, construction and material criteria, inspection scope and records, and corrective-action process. AQL 2.5 under ANSI/ASQ Z1.4 General Inspection Level II applies only when the written inspection plan specifies its sampling method and acceptance limits. It is a sampling method: it does not mean every unit is inspected or guarantee defect-free production.

Fenalt provides on-site quality control during production. Deviations are reviewed against the agreed standard and appropriate corrective action is coordinated with the production partner. Needle or metal detection can be included when required by the product, buyer specification or production facility. Confirm what the order includes; do not assume a universal inspection or testing package.

Portuguese market

Review fibre composition and label wording

Regulation (EU) No 1007/2011 covers fibre names and fibre-composition information for covered textile products. For consumer sales in Portugal, check the information in Portuguese. Scope, garment components, exceptions and B2B supply context can affect the treatment. Read the European guidance on textile labels and Regulation (EU) No 1007/2011; verify composition against material records and ask a specialist to review final wording.

Fibre composition, care instructions, chemicals, safety, origin and certification are distinct matters. Check relevant evidence before approving claims or labels. This page does not determine obligations for a specific garment or certify compliance.

Dispatch and import

Confirm responsibilities before dispatch to Portugal

Set out production origin, named destination, shipment size, documents, transport responsibility and agreed Incoterm. DAP may be used for small-batch courier shipments and FOB Chattogram for bulk sea freight, subject to confirmation for the project. The Incoterm and quotation do not by themselves establish duty, VAT, customs clearance, landed cost or arrival date.

For goods entering Portugal from outside the EU customs territory, confirm with the importer and customs representative who lodges the declaration, which EORI applies, the tariff classification, and the origin and import documents. Classification and related measures depend on the actual garment and origin; check TARIC or Access2Markets with verified product data. Portugal’s Tax and Customs Authority explains that the import VAT taxable amount can include customs value, duties and certain charges and expenses; review calculations with a tax professional.

Also consult the Commission’s EORI information and Article 17 of Portugal’s VAT Code. Do not estimate rates, preferences or final landed cost without shipment-specific review. Fenalt coordinates the agreed production and dispatch workflow but does not guarantee universal compliance or customs clearance.
