Plan apparel manufacturing for New Zealand brands

Prepare a clear product brief, approval sequence and destination checklist before confirming apparel production for New Zealand.

Prepare a versioned garment brief

Start with the current specification, measurements, materials, trims, colour, labels, packaging and delivery destination. Mark confirmed and open items. List quantities by style, colour and size and name approval owners.

Confirm quantities and production gates

Fenalt’s approved standard minimum is 50 pieces per style. Planning references are 10–15 days for sample production plus 3–5 days for shipping, then 15–20 days from pre-production sample approval to export dispatch. This is not delivery time to New Zealand. AQL 2.5 under ANSI/ASQ Z1.4 Level II is a sampling method, not a defect-free guarantee.

Check New Zealand import and product information

New Zealand Customs requires imported goods to be classified within its tariff; duty treatment depends on classification and shipment details, including where goods were made and sent from. Preferential treatment needs the applicable agreement and evidence. Customs guidance sets client-code requirements for eligible commercial imports and related supplier-code and Trade Single Window steps; verify current thresholds.

  • Agree the importer of record and who submits the import entry.
  • Check classification, origin evidence and customs value for the garment.
  • Confirm any client or supplier code and Trade Single Window requirements.
  • Allow for applicable duties, GST, levies and clearance charges; confirm amounts.
  • Check fibre, care and country-of-origin information for the finished product.
  • For children’s nightwear, check the applicable fire-hazard and warning-label rules.

Keep Fenalt’s role and delivery responsibilities clear

Fenalt coordinates production through a managed partner network; it is not a factory directory. Approved references describe DAP for some small courier projects and FOB Chattogram for some bulk sea freight. Confirm the named place or port, freight, clearance, costs and responsibilities in writing.
