Apparel Manufacturing for Dutch Brands
Specifications, material choices, samples and quality expectations need to align before an apparel project is coordinated. Fenalt manages apparel manufacturing and material sourcing through partners selected for each project. It is accountable for coordinating the production solution, not a factory directory or open marketplace.
This page covers technical preparation and coordination for buyers in the Netherlands. It makes no promise of production in the Netherlands, a fixed partner, price, import duty, delivery date or legal outcome; details must be confirmed for each project.
Set out the product specification
For each style, describe its intended use, construction, fit and measurements, fabric and fibre composition, colours, trims, finishing, branding, labels and packaging. Include quantities by style and colour, target market, destination and desired timing. Separate confirmed requirements from open questions, and flag details or label copy that have not been approved.
Fenalt reviews technical information and coordinates feasibility questions with project partners. Material availability, production partner, location and scope depend on the brief and need separate confirmation.
Use samples and approvals as decision points
Record which sample stage is under review, who approves it and which specification version applies. Give specific feedback on fit, measurements, material, colour, construction, branding and packaging. Put agreed changes into the specification so production decisions remain traceable.
An approved sample is a coordination reference, not a guarantee that every later unit will be identical or a determination of regulatory compliance. Assess and confirm project effects of changes after approval, including effects on materials, workflow, cost and timing.
Agree quality checks before production
Before production starts, clarify the applicable specification, agreed checks and how deviations will be handled. Fenalt coordinates production and provides on-site quality control during production. Fenalt lists AQL 2.5 under ANSI/ASQ Z1.4 Level II as an inspection reference; confirm the applicable inspection plan and acceptance criteria for each project.
Deviations are reviewed against the agreed standard, with appropriate corrective action coordinated with the production partner. This is not a promise of defect-free goods or automatic replacement. Needle or metal detection can be incorporated when required by the product, buyer specification or production facility.
Include fibre composition in label and product development
Regulation (EU) No 1007/2011 sets rules for textile fibre names and labelling and marking textile-product fibre composition. Products containing multiple fibres are subject to rules for fibre names and percentages by weight, with exceptions in the regulation. Carry the confirmed composition into the tech pack and check label copy for the specific product and sales channel before artwork approval. This is not a complete review of all product requirements or a legal compliance assessment.
Check import roles and tariffs for the shipment
Before dispatch, discuss who acts as importer, who arranges the declaration and what product and shipment data are needed. The European Commission describes TARIC as the EU database for measures relating to the Common Customs Tariff and trade measures. Classification depends on the characteristics of the specific goods; this page gives no duty rate and does not classify products.
The Dutch Tax Administration describes Article 23 as a mechanism that requires a permit and is subject to conditions. Whether it is suitable or available depends on the business and its circumstances; confirm this with the Tax Administration or a qualified adviser.
Prepare for a technical review
Share a product description or tech pack, quantities by style and colour, material requirements, target market, destination and desired timing. Mark which decisions are approved and which remain open. Fenalt can technically review the project scope and structure the next discussions.
