Sustainable Clothing Manufacturing for Brands in Mexico

Connect each environmental claim to evidence for the product, supplier, and lot.

Sustainability is not established by a single material choice or supplier statement. Fenalt coordinates manufacturing and sourcing through selected partners; it does not claim to own factories or manufacture in Mexico.

Define claims and keep evidence

Record the exact wording and whether a claim concerns fiber, component, process, facility, or the whole garment. Note the product, style, lot, where the claim appears, evidence owner, source, date, comparison baseline, scope, and limits. Keep recycled or organic content, substances, processes, durability, worker practices, and whole-product life-cycle claims separate; evidence in one category does not establish another.

Keep a materials list with known composition, components, suppliers, and lots. Save relevant specifications, supplier statements, tests, and process records with the style file; record each document’s issuer, date, scope, exclusions, and whether it covers the actual order. Make chain-of-custody or subcontracting gaps visible instead of filling them with assumptions. Check a certificate’s issuer, holder, validity, and product or facility scope before referring to it. Do not claim certification or full traceability without current evidence for that precise scope.

Plan the manufacturing specification

Describe construction, composition, known weight, color, sizes, trims, decoration, labels, and packaging. State quantities, tests, criteria, and approvers. The standard minimum order quantity (MOQ) reference is 50 pieces per style, subject to confirmation. Sampling references 10-15 production days plus separate 3-5 day shipping. Bulk production references 15-20 days from pre-production sample sign-off to export dispatch. These are not guaranteed arrival dates.

AQL 2.5 under ANSI/ASQ Z1.4, General Inspection Level II, applies only when the written plan confirms it. Sampling is not total inspection or a zero-defect guarantee. Non-conformities are reviewed against the agreed standard and corrective action is coordinated with the partner.

Review Mexican labeling

NOM-004-SE-2021 covers, within its scope and exceptions, certain consumer textiles with at least 50% textile composition by mass. Clause 4.1.1 lists brand, fiber composition, size, care, origin, and responsible-party details for covered garments; clause 4.2 includes a specific exception. It also addresses Spanish text, importer details, and placement. The importer must confirm the actual product; this page does not determine compliance.
