Clothing Manufacturing for South Korean Brands

Fenalt coordinates technical review, material sourcing, sampling, production, quality planning and shipment preparation with factories and partners selected for each project. Production location and process depend on the specification; Fenalt does not claim to own factories or manufacture in South Korea.

Production brief

Prepare information the team can review

Share garment type and intended use, knit or woven construction, fibre blend, known fabric weight, colour, fit, size range, trims, artwork, labels, packaging and quantity by style. Attach the current specification and version; distinguish open decisions from approved requirements. Keep Korean label and packaging copy in approved files.

Link the specification revision, points of measure, tolerances, material references, approved sample and acceptance criteria. Assign who approves fibre and care information, classification, origin wording and the final sample among the brand, Korean importer, broker, safety reviewer and production partner. Record responsibilities rather than inferring them from the brand’s address or trademark.

Fenalt’s current reference minimum is 50 pieces per style. Confirm in the quotation whether it fits the requested fabric, construction and size range; different styles cannot be assumed to combine toward a minimum.

Sampling and schedule

Keep approvals separate from transit

  • Sampling: 10–15 production days plus a separate 3–5 day shipping reference. Confirm sample stage, start date, dispatch point and proposed transport.
  • Bulk: 15–20 days from pre-production sample sign-off to export dispatch, not arrival in South Korea. The specification, materials and approvals must be ready.
  • Change record: keep the sample, specification version, size chart, label and package files, inspection plan and change approver in one approval record.

Material availability, revisions, quantities, partner capacity, holidays, inspection and export documents can change timing. Use the written order calendar; estimates do not guarantee arrival.

Quality planning

Define measurable checks by style

Fenalt’s inspection reference is ANSI/ASQ Z1.4, General Inspection Level II, AQL 2.5. The order should define lot, sample size, defect categories, acceptance and rejection numbers, inspection stage and agreed response. AQL is a sampling method; it does not mean every garment is inspected or defects are impossible.

Set measurement points, units, tolerances and conditions. If relevant, distinguish relaxed from extended measurement or before- and after-wash checks. Agree test methods and pass criteria for colourfastness, dimensional stability, seams, pilling, abrasion, print durability or stretch recovery. A report should not support a consumer claim unless it covers the actual product and batch. Nonconformities are reviewed against the agreed standard; automatic replacement, refund, credit or reproduction is not promised.

Korean product safety and labeling

Confirm the garment category and intended user

Do not assume one Korean safety or label rule covers every garment. Product category, intended user, material and construction affect which standard applies. KATS and SafetyKorea list household textile products and children’s products as separate categories. Have the responsible importer and a Korean product-safety specialist confirm the current category and scope before production.

For the specific household textile-products category described by SafetyKorea, product testing is not mandatory and the KC mark is not attached, while item-specific markings still follow the applicable standard. Do not generalize this to another category. Confirm the exact product first.

Depending on the applicable standard, check fibre composition, responsible manufacturer or importer, manufacturing country, traceability, care and warning statements against the current KATS annex and label-placement rules. Build Korean copy from verified product data; do not just translate a supplier label. Do not claim KC certification, chemical safety, hypoallergenic, recycled or performance-tested status without evidence for the exact product and qualified review.

Origin and import preparation

Verify marking and declaration responsibilities

Korea Customs says origin marking applies to designated imports. The importer should check the actual classification and current marking method. Origin relates to production, manufacture or processing, not the brand’s home, design, investment or trademark. Multi-country production may need a substantial-transformation analysis; the dispatch port, inspection or packing location does not determine origin by itself.

Korea Customs uses UNI-PASS for electronic import declarations. Supporting records can include an invoice, packing list, bill of lading, origin certificate or inspection document, depending on the case. Provide the broker the final product description, fibre content, construction, quantity, declared value, origin evidence and shipment records; the importer and broker confirm what is required.

A generic description such as “clothing” cannot establish duty or tax. This page assigns no tariff code, preferential origin result, duty rate or landed cost.

Delivery terms

Record the named place and responsibilities

Fenalt’s qualified references are DAP for small courier shipments and FOB Chattogram for bulk sea shipments. They are not automatic terms for every Korean order. The quote should name the Incoterm and place or port, origin, mode, export and import responsibilities, duties, taxes, insurance, final delivery and exclusions.

Before dispatch, reconcile order, invoice, packing list, transport documents, description, quantities, values and origin. The importer or broker should check that documents match the declaration and assign product-specific reviews.

Frequently asked questions

Before confirming an order

What is Fenalt’s reference minimum quantity?

50 pieces per style is the current reference. Confirm final feasibility in the project quotation.

Does every garment need a KC mark?

No blanket conclusion applies. Requirements depend on exact garment and intended user; ask a qualified local reviewer to confirm the current category.

Can Fenalt determine Korean duty?

The Korean importer or broker should confirm current treatment using the final description, construction, fibre, origin and classification. This page quotes no rate.

How long do sampling and bulk production take?

Planning references are 10–15 production days plus separate 3–5 day shipping for a sample, and 15–20 days from pre-production sample sign-off to bulk export dispatch. They are not arrival guarantees.

Send the current specification, quantity by style, sizes, materials, sample objective, destination and Korean label or packaging needs through the project brief. See Fenalt’s capabilities and operations process.
