Apparel Manufacturing for South Korean Brands

Turn style specifications into a production baseline, then connect sample and quality approvals to South Korea product and import reviews.

Production specification

Turn each style into a production baseline

Assemble the current tech pack by style, knit or woven construction, materials and fibre content, points of measure and tolerances, size range, colours, prints or embroidery, trims, labels and packaging, and quantities. Separate approved details from estimates and open decisions, and identify the document version. An image or fabric trade name alone is not a complete production instruction.

If fit, stretch recovery, opacity, shrinkage, colour matching or print placement matters, state how it will be assessed. Confirm any requested inspection or test method for the actual product and material. Fenalt manages apparel manufacturing and sourcing from technical review through production coordination to delivery. Production partners depend on the project; confirm location, scope and terms in the quotation and order documents.

Sample approval

Carry sample decisions into bulk approval

Record the sample stage and approver. Review fit, measurements, construction, material hand-feel, colour, branding placement and packaging against the brief. Put feedback into a revised specification. Before bulk production, approve the sample, size chart, materials and trims, artwork, quantity breakdown and packaging as one production baseline.

Fenalt’s current planning references are 50 pieces per style; 10–15 production days for sampling plus a separate 3–5 day shipping reference; and 15–20 days from pre-production sample sign-off to bulk export dispatch. These are planning references, not an order commitment or arrival promise. Material availability, approvals, revisions, partner capacity, inspection findings and routing can affect the plan. Confirm the scope, assumptions and dates in the project quotation.

Record each change with its specification version and approver. Review cost and timing effects before changing materials, measurements, prints, labels or packaging.

Delivery terms

Confirm delivery terms for the order

Current Fenalt delivery references are DAP for small-batch courier shipments and FOB Chattogram for bulk sea freight. These are not automatic terms for every order; the applicable term and route depend on production origin, destination, shipment size and the agreed Incoterm. Confirm the named place or port, carrier arrangements and import-clearance responsibilities in the project quotation.

Quality coordination

Coordinate production against agreed quality criteria

Fenalt coordinates production and can provide on-site quality control. Its current inspection reference is AQL 2.5 under ANSI/ASQ Z1.4 General Inspection Level II. Define the lot, sample size, defect categories, inspection timing and acceptance criteria in the order plan. AQL is a sampling method; it does not mean every unit is inspected or guarantee defect-free goods.

For dimensions, wash performance, colourfastness, seam strength or print durability, agree the method and criteria for the actual product and material before bulk work. Non-conformities are reviewed against the agreed quality standard, with appropriate corrective action coordinated with the production partner. The response depends on evidence, contract and production stage.

South Korea market preparation

Confirm product category and label requirements

Korean product-safety and labeling review can depend on garment type and intended user. The Korean Agency for Technology and Standards (KATS) lists household textile products in its safety-standards-compliance category and publishes the applicable standard. KATS and SafetyKorea are starting points for checking a category and current standard. Do not assume one test, KC mark or set of markings applies to every garment. Ask the responsible importer and a qualified local specialist to confirm the current category for the exact product.

Flag fibre content, care information, responsible manufacturer or importer, country of manufacture, size, label placement and Korean package copy for review. Confirm which details apply and the required wording and placement against the current item-specific standard. Keep material evidence within its documented scope; do not present it as a finished-garment certification or performance claim without product-specific support and review.

Origin and import preparation

Connect production records to import review

Korea Customs Service says origin marking applies to designated imports. The responsible importer or customs broker should check applicability and method against the actual classification and production path. A brand’s home, design or dispatch port does not establish origin. Where production spans countries, retain records of the manufacturing and processing stages and request a product-specific determination.

Korea Customs Service’s UNI-PASS guidance covers electronic import declarations. Required records, which may include invoices, packing lists, transport records, origin evidence or inspection documents, depend on the shipment. The importer or broker should confirm classification and documents using the final product description, materials and construction, quantity, declared value and origin evidence. This page does not calculate a tariff, tax, tariff code or clearance result.

Prepare the production inquiry

  • Current specification and version, materials, trims and size breakdown by style
  • Planned quantities, sample stage, approval owners and quality plan
  • Korean label and packaging copy with a local reviewer assigned
  • Production route, origin records and importer or broker contact

Mark open decisions when you share the brief so technical review and project-specific commercial terms can address them. Review Fenalt’s operations process and production capabilities, then start a project inquiry.
