Low-volume production for Japan

Low-MOQ Clothing Manufacturing for Japanese Brands

Japanese buyers need small-batch flexibility without sacrificing stitching, hand-feel, dimensional accuracy or finish quality.

Fenalt connects the technical brief to audited international capacity and manages sampling, quality control and import logistics through one production office.

Buyer fit

Small batches with a disciplined technical route

Fenalt’s low-MOQ model is designed for brands that want to test fits, colors and capsules while keeping the production package stable enough to scale.

Designer labels

Complex patterns, exact seam allowances and premium textiles become viable at 50 pieces per style for controlled capsules.

DTC and streetwear

Heavyweight knits, washes, screen prints and embroidery are developed against an approved physical reference sample.

Retail and corporate

Capsules and restocks use one managed interface, reducing language, time-zone and factory-coordination friction.

Product scope

Japanese brand categories supported

Custom knits

French terry, fleece, combed compact ring-spun tees and rib knits for streetwear, loungewear and premium basics.

Wovens

High-density twill, ripstop, Oxford, linen blends and technical poplins for overshirts, trousers and button-downs.

Outerwear

Water-repellent nylon, laminated shells, insulation and bonded fleece for utility, technical streetwear and activewear.

Denim and workwear

Rigid or stretch denim, enzyme washes, reinforced topstitching and multi-pocket construction.

Capital strategy

Test, approve, then scale

Traditional bulk model

High minimums lock working capital

Direct factories often require 500 or more pieces, forcing a brand to commit before a new fit, fabrication or colorway has been tested in the Japanese market.

Fenalt managed model

50 pieces per style keeps the decision reversible

Capsules can be released, reviewed and re-ordered using the same tech pack, fabric specifications and quality protocol once demand is proven.

Managed production

Five visible gates to export

01

Technical intake

Submit the tech pack, BOM and artwork. Fenalt checks feasibility, POMs, SPI and fabric parameters.

02

Pattern and sourcing

Production markers, stitch targets, GSM and material selections are translated into a controlled pack.

03

Sampling

The prototype is made in 10–15 days, plus 3–5 days courier, then reviewed for fit, strength and dimensions.

04

Bulk execution

After PPS approval, cutting, sewing, finishing and packaging run in 15–20 days to export dispatch.

05

AQL dispatch

Raw material, in-line and final inspection precede DAP courier or FOB export logistics to Japan.

Japan-specific requirements

Precision does not stop at the sewing line

JIS and labeling

Care labels should show Japanese fiber composition, JIS L 0001 symbols, origin and importer identity. Fenalt prepares label details from the approved technical package.

Measurement precision

Patterns and finished garments are checked across the POM chart using standard commercial tolerances, with stitch density, seam tension and fit reviewed before approval.

Import tax planning

HS classification and fiber content determine duties. The importer of record manages applicable customs charges and the 10% Japan Consumption Tax at entry.

Inspection protocol

Quality gates before dispatch

GSM, shrinkage and colorfastness are checked before cutting.

SPI, seam finishes, POMs and construction are audited in-line.

Final inspection follows ANSI/ASQ Z1.4 Level II with AQL 2.5 before packing.

Japanese buyer questions

Low-MOQ production, answered

Does Fenalt manufacture garments inside Japan?

No. Fenalt provides a managed route for Japanese brands through audited international partner facilities and coordinates technical, quality and import work.

What is the MOQ?

The standard MOQ is 50 pieces per style across the supported garment categories, allowing smaller drops without high factory minimums.

How long is sampling?

Sampling takes 10–15 days for production plus 3–5 days for courier shipping to Japan.

How long is bulk production?

Bulk production takes 15–20 days from written pre-production sample sign-off to export dispatch.

What does Japan compliance involve?

Care labels should show Japanese fiber composition, JIS L 0001 or aligned symbols, and Japanese importer details. Fenalt coordinates label preparation from the approved tech pack.

How are duties and consumption tax handled?

Rates depend on HS code and fiber composition. DAP shipments are cleared by the importer of record, while FOB shipments are handled by the designated Japanese broker; Japan’s 10% JCT is assessed at import under the applicable rules.

Can Fenalt print care labels?

Yes. Labels can include JIS-compliant care symbols, fiber compositions and the local importer information specified by the brand.
