Private Label Clothing for Finnish Brands
Plan a private-label brief, sample approval, written quality scope and Finland-specific buyer checks before confirming a production project.
Make the production brief reviewable
Describe the garment's intended use, fit and size range, construction, material and known fibre content, colours, trims, branding placement, label artwork and packaging. Split quantities by style, colour and size; state the destination and desired timing. Attach the controlling tech pack or reference files, identify their version, and separate approved choices from details that still need a sample or feasibility review.
Fenalt coordinates private-label apparel production through managed manufacturing and sourcing. Factories, suppliers, material sources and production partners are selected for each project. Fenalt manages work from technical review through production coordination to delivery. It is not a factory directory or open marketplace and does not claim to own production facilities.
Keep brand decisions traceable
List labels, tags, artwork, prints, embroidery, trims and packaging. Identify file versions, placements and buyer-supplied items. Fenalt coordinates custom branding, labels and tags within a confirmed project scope; feasibility, material availability, partner selection and commercial terms require order-specific review.
Agree who reviews each sample and the criteria they will use: fit, measurements, colour, material hand-feel, construction, branding placement and packaging. Record accepted changes in a dated specification revision. Keep the approved sample with the revision that controls production. A reference image or informal message alone may not settle measurements, composition, construction or placement.
Confirm quantities and planning estimates
Fenalt's standard minimum order reference is 50 pieces per style. Confirm the style definition and breakdown by colour and size in the quotation; do not assume separate styles, colours or material requirements can be combined toward one minimum.
Sample production is estimated at 10–15 days, with a separate 3–5 day shipping estimate. Bulk production is estimated at 15–20 days from pre-production sample sign-off to export dispatch. These are planning references, not an arrival date in Finland or an unconditional delivery promise. Materials, approvals, revisions, partners and shipment arrangements can affect timing.
Put the quality plan in writing
Before bulk production, define the approved sample, measurement points and tolerances, construction and material criteria, inspection scope, records and corrective-action process. AQL 2.5 under ANSI/ASQ Z1.4 General Inspection Level II applies only when the written inspection plan states its sampling method and acceptance limits. AQL is a sampling method: it does not mean every unit is inspected or guarantee defect-free production.
Fenalt provides on-site quality control during production. Non-conformities are reviewed against the agreed quality standard and appropriate corrective action is coordinated with the production partner. Needle or metal detection can be incorporated when required by the product, buyer specification or production facility. Confirm the activities included in the order.
Check Finnish labelling and consumer-instruction questions
EU Regulation (EU) No 1007/2011 addresses fibre names and composition information for textile products within its scope. For covered products made available to consumers, information is generally provided in the official language or languages of the Member State where the product is made available, unless that Member State provides otherwise. Scope and product-specific exceptions matter. Confirm Finland's language position, product scope and final label artwork with a qualified local reviewer. See the European Commission's Finnish textile-label guidance and the regulation on EUR-Lex.
Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority guidance on user instructions is separate from textile fibre-composition labels. It says instructions needed for normal use should be provided in Finnish and Swedish, with an exception for instructions that can be conveyed through widely known symbols, including clothing care labels. Assess the product and seller role before applying this guidance. Review the KKV guidance with a Finnish specialist.
Plan the Finnish import handover
Name the importer, the party lodging or arranging the customs declaration and the customs representative before dispatch. EORI requirements and use depend on an operator's establishment, role and customs activity; confirm which party needs the number for the actual declaration using European Commission guidance.
For business imports from outside the EU, a Finnish VAT-registered importer generally reports import VAT to the Finnish Tax Administration on its VAT return after submitting the customs import declaration. Customs handles import VAT in specified cases, including when the importer is not VAT-registered in Finland. Importer status and purpose matter. Confirm the transaction with Vero's guidance and the importer's adviser.
The EU Common Customs Tariff applies across Member States, but duty treatment depends on the garment's commodity classification, origin and measures in force. Finnish Customs' Fintaric says an import or export commodity code must be declared and that the code determines duties and restrictions. Do not use a generic garment duty rate. Have the importer or broker check current TARIC and Fintaric information against the exact garment and origin. These tariff tools do not set Finnish VAT rates.
Confirm shipment responsibility
Set out production origin, named destination, shipment size, documents, transport responsibility and agreed Incoterm. DAP may be used for small-batch courier shipments and FOB Chattogram for bulk sea freight, subject to confirmation for the project. The term and quotation alone do not establish duty, tax, customs clearance, landed cost or arrival date. Fenalt coordinates the agreed production and shipment workflow but does not provide a universal customs-clearance or compliance guarantee.
Before requesting a project review, gather the controlling tech pack, quantities by style and variant, material and branding decisions, label and packaging files, desired sample stage, Finnish destination and target timing. Mark approved decisions and open questions.
