T-shirt and sweatshirt neckbands
Fine 1x1 rib plated with elastane keeps collars flat and limits post-wash baconing or distortion.
Managed wholesale trim sourcing
Rib is a structural component as much as a fabric. Shade, stretch memory, gauge, stitch density, and shrinkage must work with the body textile or the finished garment will distort.
Fenalt manages yarn selection, circular or flat knitting, elastane plating, dyeing, finishing, precision slitting, inspection, and export delivery for commercial rib programs.
Textile character
Rib knit is a double-jersey material formed on circular or flatbed machines with two needle beds. Alternating face and reverse loops create raised vertical ridges and high lateral elasticity without requiring excessive synthetic content.
Fenalt coordinates custom structures to the garment brief, aligning yarn count, gauge, stitch density, elastane plating, and points of measure so collars, cuffs, waistbands, or full ribbed bodies hold their intended shape.
Structural comparison
| Rib structure | Fiber blend | Weight | Application | Packaging |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1x1 rib knit | 100% combed cotton or 95/5 cotton-elastane | 180–260 GSM | T-shirt collars, cuffs, and lightweight base layers | Tubular or open-width roll |
| 2x2 rib knit | Combed cotton, cotton/poly, or cotton-elastane | 240–380 GSM | Sweatshirt cuffs, hem bands, and outerwear trims | Tubular or open-width roll |
| Flat-knit collar rib | Cotton, polyester, or mercerized cotton | Per POM | Polo collars and engineered sleeve cuffs | Piece-dyed flat bundles |
| Heavy rib / cardigan | Cotton/acrylic or polyester/spandex | 350–500 GSM | Outerwear, ribbed dresses, and athleisure | Open-width roll |
| Drop-needle / thermal | Cotton/polyester blends | 200–300 GSM | Thermal underwear and textured tops | Tubular or open-width roll |
Applications
Fine 1x1 rib plated with elastane keeps collars flat and limits post-wash baconing or distortion.
2x2 heavy rib and flat-knit engineered ribs at 320–420 GSM support cuffs, hem bands, and structural side panels.
Fine 1x1 and 2x2 circular ribs provide form-fitting flexibility for tanks, bodysuits, and thermal layers.
Inset ribbing supports lateral torso extension and rotational movement in fleece bottoms and performance tops.

Fiber and yarn
Weight and density
180–220 GSM: fine yarns for summer tops, inner bindings, and neck tapes.
230–280 GSM: balanced 24s/1 or 30s/1 rib for T-shirt collars, dress ribs, and tanks.
290–420 GSM: heavier yarns for hoodie cuffs, waistbands, and structured knit bodies.
Supply formats
Continuous roll goods
Tubular or open-width yardage supports full-garment cutting for ribbed cardigans, tank tops, skirts, and other body constructions. Standard rolls are protected on heavy-duty cardboard cores with inner polyethylene and outer poly-sacks.
Engineered components
Fully fashioned flat collars, striped trims, pre-cut cuff pieces, and precision-slit materials are produced to exact target length and width, reducing cutting-room waste and speeding assembly.
Performance and QA
Premium elastane at 5–10% supports dynamic stretch memory with minimal residual torque after repeated wash cycles.
Pantone TPX/TCX or physical swatches are matched within agreed tolerances, targeting Grade 4+ fastness to washing, rubbing, and light.
ASTM D3990 inspection checks slubs, missing ends, needle lines, oil stains, GSM, width, and dimensional performance before AQL 2.5 release.
Managed workflow
Confirm GSM, elasticity, yarn, color, gauge, width, and POM requirements.
Approve physical swatches and color in 10–15 days plus 3–5 days shipping.
Run circular or flat knitting, dyeing, stentering, and compacting after approval.
Use four-point review, GSM and width checks, and AQL 2.5 final acceptance.
Release roll goods by DAP courier or FOB Chattogram sea freight.
Questions & answers
Fenalt coordinates custom-milled production and dedicated material allocations to the approved specification, protecting lot-to-lot shade consistency instead of clearing mixed or off-spec warehouse inventory.
Finished cut-and-sew garments use a standard MOQ of 50 pieces per style. Standalone custom-dyed circular rib knit orders are typically around 300 kg, while stock-supported continuous programs may be available at lower volumes.
Yes. Fenalt coordinates lab dips against Pantone TPX/TCX codes or physical swatches and can align body fabric and rib dyeing at the same facility to reduce metamerism.
Development swatches and lab dips require 10–15 days for production plus 3–5 days shipping. Bulk mill production and export dispatch take 15–20 days after approval.
DAP is suited to smaller courier roll consignments. FOB Chattogram is used for full-container or bulk sea freight exports.
Mechanical compacting, stenter framing, and precision edge trimming or slitting help open-width rib lay flat on automated cutting tables without structural torque.
