Brand-owned product, shared technical record

Private Label Clothing Manufacturing for German Brands

Coordinate pattern, material, branding, sampling and production through one technical workflow. Fenalt coordinates production through partner facilities selected for each project; sample, inspection and delivery responsibilities are confirmed in the written order.

Direct answer

A technical partner for the whole garment lifecycle

Private-label production asks a buyer to align a distinctive product with repeatable construction and the requirements of the German sales market. Fenalt coordinates the process from tech pack review and raw material sourcing through sample engineering, order-specific inspection and export logistics. Production origin and partner facilities are confirmed for each order; this page focuses on buyer-side technical and import planning for Germany.

Independent designers may plan capsule collections with minimums confirmed after product review. DTC and streetwear brands may specify heavyweight fabric, garment dyeing, print and custom trims. Retail and corporate teams may need multi-SKU coordination, packaging details and an order schedule that fits a seasonal release.

The sample approval, artwork, measurements and materials should all point to the same version. That reference makes buyer comments actionable before bulk work begins and gives a later reorder a defined baseline.

Garment engineering

Specify the parts that carry the brand

Product and material options depend on the approved specification and confirmed partner availability.

For denim, washes or distressing are selected against the approved specification and confirmed facility capability. For outerwear, define the required shell, seam treatment and hardware rather than relying on a category name to imply performance.

Managed build

Six handoffs, one approved product reference

The workflow moves from buyer input through technical approval, then production, quality and export.

  1. 01

    Intake

Review tech pack, artwork, bill of materials, construction feasibility and fabric availability.

  2. 02

    Technical translation

Define points of measure, seam construction, thread, grading rules, pattern files and marker yields.

  3. 03

    Sample and approval

Review fit, materials, trims, color and construction on the physical sample before bulk cutting.

  4. 04

    Bulk production

After approval and material readiness, schedule the order and monitor production against the agreed milestones.

  5. 05

    Quality inspection

Use the sampling plan and acceptance criteria agreed for the order, including product-specific tolerances.

  6. 06

    Export logistics

Coordinate courier or freight arrangements under the agreed delivery term and shipment file.

Estimated sampling is 10 to 15 production days plus an estimated 3 to 5 days for shipping. Bulk production is estimated at 15 to 20 days from pre-production sample approval to export dispatch. These are planning estimates, not guaranteed delivery or arrival dates; confirm shipping time for the booked route.

Germany and EU requirements

Separate fibre labeling from other product duties

Check the product, material and operator role before approving the label and packaging file.

Textile composition

German-language fibre information

Regulation (EU) No 1007/2011 governs fibre names and composition labelling; confirm the language required for Germany and the specific product. It does not itself impose general care-symbol or country-of-origin labelling. ProdSG §6 specifies German-language instructions, safety information and warnings under the EU General Product Safety Regulation where the relevant product and operator fall within its scope. Check applicability for the exact garment and sales setup with the importer or a qualified adviser; this is not a blanket apparel-labelling requirement. See the official ProdSG §6 text.

Chemical restrictions

REACH by substance and use

Assess each material and component against the restriction that applies to the substance, article and intended use. The ECHA REACH restriction guidance explains that Annex XVII entries have specific scope and conditions; request supplier evidence or testing where appropriate.

Retail timing

Plan to the confirmed schedule

German brands may plan Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter collections. Align target dates with the order-specific production schedule and booked carrier estimate.

Import and delivery

Set the customs handoff before dispatch

Choose a term that reflects transport mode, named place and party responsibilities. Duties, VAT and EORI needs depend on the transaction.

Air freightUse an appropriate term agreed for the air-freight arrangement; confirm named place, carrier, and import roles.Name the place and confirm carrier and import roles.

Goods entering Germany from a non-EU origin may be subject to customs duty and import VAT. Duty depends on tariff classification, origin and current measures or preferences; check the applicable TARIC entry. Import VAT, or *Einfuhrumsatzsteuer*, follows German rules for the legally defined taxable amount.

An EORI number is needed where EU customs rules require one for the operator’s role. Confirm whether the importer or representative must hold it, and agree the invoices, packing list, origin details and classification data for clearance.

Carrier estimates depend on route and are confirmed at booking. Use the booked plan for destinations such as Hamburg, Bremerhaven or inland distribution points.

Questions from German buyers

Private-label manufacturing, explained

Does Fenalt manufacture garments inside Germany?

No. Fenalt coordinates production through partner facilities selected for the product brief. The written order identifies the agreed technical work, inspection scope, production origin and delivery responsibilities for each German-market project.

How are import duties and VAT handled for shipments to Germany?

Under DAP, the buyer handles import clearance and applicable duties and taxes; a courier may act as customs representative. For bulk FOB shipments, the buyer’s freight forwarder handles the import arrangements agreed for the transaction. EORI requirements depend on each operator’s role.

What is the standard MOQ for German brands?

For qualifying projects, production options can start from 50 units per style. The minimum depends on fabric, design complexity and project requirements and is confirmed after product review.

How are pre-production samples handled before bulk cutting?

A physical pre-production sample is made from the approved tech pack. Sampling schedules are confirmed after material readiness and approvals; carrier transit estimates are confirmed at booking. Bulk production begins after the buyer reviews and formally approves the sample for fit, construction and materials.
