Apparel Manufacturing for Canadian Brands
Turn product intent into reviewable specifications, resolve open decisions and compare samples against an agreed production basis.
Fenalt provides managed apparel manufacturing and sourcing, coordinating technical review, sampling, production and delivery with factories, suppliers and production partners selected for each project. Fenalt is an accountable manufacturing solutions manager, not a factory directory or open marketplace. Scope, location and terms are confirmed for each project.
Start a production inquiryThe brief
Prepare a useful product brief
Gather the product type and intended use, construction, measurements, size range, fibre composition, materials, colours, trims, finishing, branding, packaging and quantities by style and colour. Include the target market, destination, timing and any buyer requirements for testing or documentation. Attach the current tech pack, reference images and relevant retailer or platform instructions.
Mark what is approved and what remains open. Flag provisional measurements, material details, artwork placement and label copy so they are not mistaken for production instructions. Fenalt reviews the information and coordinates feasibility questions with the project partners involved.
Sampling and approval
Use samples and approvals as decision points
Agree which sample stage is under review and who approves it. Give specific feedback on fit, measurements, material hand-feel, colour, construction, branding and packaging. Record accepted changes in a revised specification so the buyer and project team use the same version.
The approved sample and specification provide the shared basis for production coordination. Changes made later can affect sourcing, workflow, cost and timing; assess and confirm their effects for the order. Sample approval does not guarantee every later unit or establish regulatory compliance.
Quality planning
Plan checks against the confirmed order
Before production, clarify the specification, inspection plan, acceptance criteria and escalation path. Fenalt coordinates production and provides on-site quality control during production. AQL 2.5 under ANSI/ASQ Z1.4 Level II is an inspection reference; confirm the plan and criteria for the specific project. Deviations are reviewed against the agreed quality standard, with appropriate corrective action coordinated with the production partner. This is not a promise of defect-free goods or automatic replacement production.
Canadian labelling
Review fibre labels for the product and market
The Competition Bureau’s federal textile labelling requirements cover consumer textile articles and include exceptions for particular products. Required generic fibre names and fibre-related information are generally presented in English and French; the applicable label type and details depend on the article. Check the current requirements against the product before approving label artwork.
For products marketed in Québec, do a separate French-language review. The Office québécois de la langue française explains product-inscription rules. Since 1 June 2025, generic or descriptive elements of a trademark on a product must also appear in French on the product or on a medium permanently attached to it. A limited transition through 1 June 2027 applies only to specified product cohorts and conditions, so do not assume it covers every garment. The analysis depends on the product, mark and sales channel. This page does not determine whether a particular garment or label complies; obtain specialist advice for the intended product and sales channel.
Carry confirmed fibre composition and approved label copy into the tech pack and artwork review. Do not assume one language or label format suits every item, province or sales channel.
Import planning
Confirm import responsibilities and tariff data
Before shipment, agree who will act as importer, who will arrange customs declarations and which product and shipment details are needed. Classification depends on the goods and their characteristics. The Canada Border Services Agency Customs Tariff contains current tariff treatments and can change; this page does not classify a garment or state a duty rate or preferential-origin result.
The Canada Revenue Agency explains GST/HST on imports. Tax treatment and responsibility depend on the goods, importer and circumstances. Confirm the importer, tax treatment, freight scope, destination and agreed delivery terms in the project quotation. Explore services · View production capabilities
